treatment information
Background
Massage is a form of tissue manipulation which has been developed over thousands of years. It has been used for the promotion and restoration of health and for aiding relaxation. Massage is beneficial to all body systems and is a natural and effective way to treat both physical conditions and psychological difficulties.
Diagnosis
Massage treatment begins with a consultation during which you will be asked about your present health, medical history and expectations of the treatment. The practitioner will discuss with you which areas of your body most need attention and how the massage will be performed.
Treatment
After diagnosis the practitioner leaves the room to allow you to undress in private and get comfortable on the massage couch. Your body will be covered with towels at all times with only the area being worked on exposed. The practitioner will massage you with best quality balms or oils and you will be encouraged to breathe deeply throughout.
Recuperation
After treatment some clients experience the effects of the release of toxins from the body. These are quite normal and may include headaches, nausea or physical tiredness. Rest and drinking lots of water are both recommended.
Benefits
Massage directly restores your body by relaxing tense muscles and helping relieve pain and stiffness. It also benefits the whole body through nerve stimulation. Better circulation, detoxification via the lymphatic system and more efficient respiration are just a few of the many indirect benefits massage can bring.
Sessions
The practitioner will discuss your needs with you directly in order to determine the optimum way for you to receive therapy. Many people continue with regular sessions to sustain long term health improvements.
